Mandarin Oriental The Landmark Has Reopened in Hong Kong

The Central hotel returns after a complete renovation with refreshed rooms, seven Michelin stars and a new spa on the way.

Mandarin Oriental Landmark Hong Kong Room

Mandarin Oriental The Landmark reopened on 1st June following a full renovation that has transformed one of Hong Kong's most established luxury hotels. Located within the LANDMARK complex in Central, the property returns with 109 refreshed rooms and suites, an expanded dining programme and a redesigned arrival experience by Hong Kong interior architect Joyce Wang.

The new entrance on Queen's Road Central is a deliberate shift from the classic buzz Hong Kong’s streets to a calmer oasis. Wang reportedly drew on Hong Kong's historic grand residences for the interiors, which feature warm terracotta tones, deep greens and a curved stone staircase lined with commissioned artworks. The rooms continue that residential feel, starting at 42 square metres, with timber floors, silk wall coverings and custom rugs inspired by brickwork patterns found across the city. The larger L600 rooms retain the hotel's signature curved glass bathrooms and seven-foot round bathtubs.

The pocket ace, though, is the dining. Under Culinary Director Richard Ekkebus, the hotel holds an incredible seven Michelin stars and a Green Star across its seventh-floor restaurants. Three-starred Amber remains the flagship, joined by three-starred Sushi Shikon, one-starred Kappo Rin and bistro SOMM. New additions include Blanc de Noirs, a champagne bar, and The Cellar Immersion, a curated food and wine experience held within Amber's cellar. Down in the lobby, Commune is a new artisan coffee spot designed as much for Central's office crowd as hotel guests.

The spa and wellness offering is set to follow in July, with studios for yoga, Pilates and Gyrotonic, a lap pool, thermal facilities and Hammam rituals.

The reopening is part of the wider Tomorrow's Central redevelopment of the LANDMARK complex and comes as Mandarin Oriental's flagship Hong Kong property also undergoes its own significant renovation, with completion expected later this year.
