A Brief History of The Peninsula's Famous Rolls-Royce Fleet

With six new Phantom Extended saloons joining the lineup, the hotel's love affair with Rolls-Royce shows no sign of slowing down.

Six New Bespoke Rolls-Royce Phantoms Peninsula Hong Kong

If there's one image that defines The Peninsula Hong Kong, it's the row of Rolls-Royces parked outside the front entrance. The hotel's fleet, all finished in the signature Peninsula green, has been part of the arrival experience for over fifty years, and in 2025, six brand new Phantom Extended saloons were added to bring the collection to fourteen.

The relationship between The Peninsula and Rolls-Royce dates back to 1970, when the hotel placed what was then the single largest order for a fleet of Silver Shadows. It was an order that evolved into one of the most unique parts of The Peninsula brand, and The Peninsula remains one of Rolls-Royce's most prominent private clients anywhere in the world. Eight more vehicles were added six years later, and numerous more in the years since.

The hotel brand chose Rolls Royce as a reflection of The Peninsula - stylish and embodying a timeless elegance. And the latest iteration has a few sleek upgrades too, including an upgraded dashboard, Bluetooth integration for passengers and massage seats.

Today, the fleet is used for everything from airport transfers and city tours to special occasions. Guests can book a Phantom for the seven-minute helicopter-to-hotel transfer (The Peninsula is the only hotel in Hong Kong with twin helipads) or simply request one for the drive in from HKIA - and why wouldn’t you want to arrive in style? But their signature cars are just one transport option to consider during a stay at The Peninsula: with the hotel’s current fleet includes Bentleys, Alphards, and privately chartered helicopters.
