A New Look for Anantara Siam Bangkok
One of Bangkok's longest-standing five-star addresses has been reimagined after a $50 million transformation.

Anantara Siam Bangkok has been a fixture of the Ratchadamri district since 1983, and it has just come through its biggest ever renovation, so if there was ever a best time to stay here during a visit to Thailand’s capital, this is it.
The renovations ran from June 2025 until September 2026, and nobody had to miss out on the property’s top tier hospitality while it remained open throughout, but the transformation of the rooms, suites and villas, along with other spaces is something worth returning for.
Some things never change, and nor should they - Architect George Wimberley's original building remains, and so does its signature feature. A 328-foot mural runs the length of the lobby ceiling, hand-painted by Thai artist Paiboon Suwannakudt to mark the 200th anniversary of the reigning dynasty, with a further 19 panels above it illustrating scenes from Thai cosmology. But this may be the only major thing left untouched in the property.
What’s new?
Rooms across every category, right up to the Presidential Suite, now come with teak furnishings, silk detailing and marble bathrooms in place of the previous decor. A new set of Garden Pool Suites and Villas has also been carved out of the hotel's grounds, each with its own pool and a mix of indoor and outdoor living space.
Separately, a two-bedroom Jim Thompson Explorer Suite has arrived through a partnership with the Thai silk house, built around a private library and an open-plan living area, also with teak flooring throughout.
The nine restaurants and bars haven’t changed in number, though every one has been refreshed, so that you can sample global gastronomy from Japanese to South American in comfort. As for wellness, the Anantara Spa has had a full overhaul, and a new outdoor space adds a Muay Thai ring and a climbing wall to what was previously just a gym.
The location of Anantara Siam Bangkok, just a short walk from the city’s best shopping, has always been an enviable alternative to riverside properties, so with rooms, dining and wellness looking the best they ever have, the hotel stands out as one to book.
