The Michelin Guide's Latest Hong Kong Stars Are In
The 2026 guide brings new arrivals, a notable promotion and a record number of starred restaurants across the region.
The 18th edition of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau was announced in March, and Hong Kong shows no sign of slowing down. A record 77 restaurants across the city now hold Michelin stars, up from 76 last year, in a year that also marks the 100th anniversary of the Michelin starring system.
All seven of Hong Kong's three-starred restaurants held their positions: Amber, Caprice, Forum, Sushi Shikon, Ta Vie, T'ang Court and 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana, though the latter is currently closed for renovation. If you're staying at Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, you'll have two of those three-starred restaurants on the hotel's seventh floor in Amber and Sushi Shikon, alongside one-starred Kappo Rin. Seven Michelin stars without leaving your hotel is not a bad position to be in.
The biggest movement was at the two-star level. Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic (pictured, above) earned its promotion after just a year with one star. It's the Michelin-decorated chef's second venture in Asia alongside her recently launched Le Normandie at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon also made a welcome return, reclaiming two stars following a refurbishment after previously holding three for 13 consecutive years.
Two restaurants earned their first star this year: China Tang, the Cantonese and Sichuan restaurant conceived by the late Sir David Tang, and Sushi Takeshi, a refined sushi counter in Central.
Four Hong Kong restaurants also retained their Green Stars for sustainability: Amber, Feuille, Mora and Roganic, by joe Rogan (pictured, above).
We'd always recommend booking well in advance if any of these are on your radar, with most of them having waiting lists that will stretch into the next awards.
